When I look back on the 2010 season. I will probably have a couple things stick out.
Will I remember Ubaldo’s No-hitter? Braden’s Perfect game? Halliday’s Perfect game? Braden Vs A-Rod-gate? Griffey’s Retirement? The Padres unlikely first 3rd? The Red’s unlikely first 3rd?
Nah… I mean I might remember them, but not as much as I am going to remember Jim Joyce’s call at 1st base that cost Galarraga his perfect game. In a way this give Andreas more of a story than Halliday/Braden/or Ubaldo. He will be eternally tied to Jim Joyce for better or for worse.

What makes this story so good is it’s human elements. Andreas didn’t act like a red-ass and that is admirable and it also makes him a good guy. Jim Joyce for his part played it perfect (except the call). He did what every other self respecting mustachioed man would do…… He manned-the-fuck-up and took the blame. He threw it all on himself, he did not shy from the media and he just sat there and felt really really shitty about it.
That, my friends, is the definition of human error. When you just plain “Get it Wrong”. This is what makes baseball interesting to me.
….. sometimes….. just sometimes.. we get catch a glimpse of the little personality and class that is left in baseball.
Andreas Galarraga… your are a class act
Jim Joyce…….. you plain, fucked up……. but you are classy for manning up.
Bud Selig …………………… uuuuugh…. I hate to say that you were right…… but I do agree that if we want to continue to enjoy baseball we can’t overturn this call. ….. but you still look like E.T.
Plus ….can you really hate a man who has a sweet mustache like this?
