To Live and Die in LA

Look how empty that stadium is…….

It’s hard enough to lose a game 4 to 3 when you straight up get beat. It’s even harder when you beat yourself. Tonight and last night we fucking beat ourselves. Tejada doesn’t turn well on the first leg of a double play…. we lose. Today… Sanchez drops a dribbler…… we lose. When you have 5 errors in your first two games, then you are beating yourself on defense. The fact that no one is getting clutch hits does not help.

——————————————————————————————————-

The Omar Vizquel Award goes to :

Tejada for laying down the most perfect bunt I’ve seen in a while.

The Velez Award goes to:

Sanchez, when you take your goddam eyes off the ball you fucking lose the fucking game…… get your shit together John.

——————————————————————————————————-

The Chris Knight Award (hero) goes to:

Brandon Belt. nuff said.

The Prof. Jerry Hathaway Award (goat) goes to:

John Sanchez, it’s hard to get both the Velez and the Goat award for the night, but Sanchez truly cost the Giants the game. a botched bouncer, and a leadoff walk to the pitcher is the diference between a win and a loss.

——————————————————————————————————-

F. Sanchez with the first bumble of the night.

Space cadet Zito tries to keep his neck still so he doesn’t get sore.

Blooped to death in LA.

Haaaaaaaaaai guys! …….. Haaaaaaaaiii Burrell!

A lead off walk to the pitcher. Hello 2008 John Sanchez.

The perfect bunt.

An errant throw by Pablo = error #5 of the season.

Belt is happy.

The title of this blog is a grandaddy song. It’s a good song, pretty much sums up how I feel about SoCal.

The Mat Latos Thing

There’s nothing like watching a young baseball player develop into a sincere red-ass before your very eyes. The first signs are always dismissed by the media as a player being green or immature. The second time something happens it might get talked about, but again the “he’s just an immature kid” thing comes up, but some media and older players start getting tired of it. In this step there is usually a rebuttal from the offended party. But, when you go and throw the whole…. “I hate team X” in…. now you’re going to get noticed.

And to be honest, I applaud young Latos for doing what he did. It was pure ass-headedness. But these are the things that I root for in the offseason. Any kind of team flaming, trash talking, over-hyping or ass making. It’s like someone is pouring a load of delicious Valintina’s hot sauce over my favorite dish. It spices everything up. When actual games are played they will taste better, they’ll be funner to watch, the tension will be higher. So hats off to you Mr. Latos, we can’t wait to see you get a nice close shave next time you take an at bat in San Francisco.

Oh and I took some time to personalize a baseball just for you.

This doesn’t mean that I won’t pick him as the second or third ace on my fantasy team this year…… ya he’s good…. he’s just and ass.

Out-Slugging the Sluggers

Giants squeak by the Marlins 9 to 6

Screenshot of the game.

4 out of 5 Neukoms

3 Walks, No Errors, 6 for 14 with RISP and 15 hits is not that bad of a line for this lineup.

————————————————————————————————-

The Jerry Award (hero) goes to Lincecum for getting an amazing 13 K’s but getting chased by bad placement on ONE pitch and, I suspect, the humidity (i live in NYC, the humidity up here is no joke, I get fatigued quick, I can’t even fathom Florida.)

The Tom Award (villan) goes to the Hanley Ramirez who absolutely swats the Giants last night with 3 for 6 with 3 RBI and single-handedly deflated my enjoyment of the game.

—————————————————————————————————

Special award section

Jorge Cantu         ……………………………………………        Gets one of these

And throw in a hat trick for Dan Uggla and Jeff Baker while your at it.

In other news.

- I am beginning to like Aubry Huff more and more. The more I think about it, the more he reminds me of Randy Winn with his professionalism.

- And here is some flying animals for you.

Aaron Rowand tries out his new face transplant by throwing it across the outfield.

Dan Uggla is looking for some nuts to store for winter… instead he got this line drive.

Jeremy Affeldt does some distracting calisthenics on the mound.

Somewhere in Salt Lake AAA Kevin Frandsen catches a pop-up.

Well-(emeyer) Deserved Win

Man I am wearing this guy’s name thin……

Giants take the series from the Phillies 6 to 2

Screenshot of the day

Schierholtz teaches Ryan Howard to run out a double.

4 out of 5 Neukoms

Only because Wellemeyer let Werth take 3rd off of him in the 2nd and it turned into a run. That is the kind of laziness that will kill us when our offense suddenly disappears (ala Petco Park Syndrome). And of course the missed sign that hung DeRosa out to dry when Bengie was batting. Also we only had 2 walks…. (not that I am complaining….. just saying)

There were some defensive highlight though, including Nate’s throw from right field, along with his steller catch in that same inning (i believe) and this gem late in the game to nail Utley. Man Nate was gunning the Phillies down tonight.

Speaking of Nate

The Scooby and Shaggy award (hero) goes to Nate and Matt Downs, Nate for gunning 2 runners at 2nd, and Matt for contributing off the bench.

The Scary old Mr. Withers Ghost award (villan) goes to Ryan Howard for not legging it out.

Other notes:

Let’s give it up for Wellemeyer…. He was about innings from going back to the minors and he has seemed to pull it together. Let’s just hope the he stays that way, of course matching up with a 47 year old man helps.

Nice catch by Nate!

Matt Downs hits one out. (Does he not look like Jeff Kent to anyone else)

This is either a GREAT promotion….. or a TERRIBLE one. Not sure which one it is yet.

Gotta hand it to Utley and Juan Castro with this nice turn on the DP.

Spring Training Game #(who cares)

Ok I am officially tired of posting for spring training games. It’s just harder to get amped up for a game that means nothing and now it’s just the last stand for some of our AAAA guys. So instead of my usual in depth analysis (haha), I will now just resort to posting stupid pictures to describe how the game went.

The only other disappointment that I wanted to note was that Ishikawa and Schierholtz still seem really really rusty…… zoiks. Is it time for Bowkermania in right field?

Oh and also…… Zito was actually pitching pretty good……….. for Zito.

Pablo Sandoval

How will he do this year?

What else can I possibly say about Pab-lol that has not already been said? The only market in which he seems to still be obscure is (of course) the east coast market. In all likelyhood Pabs will hit just as well if not better than last year. The only real way he could get better is to take more walks.

Do I like the guy?

How can I not? Dodgers fans are probably the only people on earth that dislike this guy. Them and maybe anyone who he past back in the minors, who will never see the bigs because he’s blocking.

Would I hang out with him?

Me, Pablo, and a whole taco truck!

Will he have an essential role on the 2010 Giants?

Pablo is the speedboat motor for our rickity-ass 12 foot dingy. We are taking on water and the only way to stay afloat is Pablo. Once that moter is not there we sink.

Henry Sosa………..Who?

How will he do this year?

First and formost…. let’s have some blog honesty once and a while…… I know WHO Henry Sosa is….. I just don’t know that much about him. I know that I have heard his name for a couple of years now. I remember two years ago he seemed like he was the entirety of our farm system talent. All anyone would talk about was Henry Sosa this Henry Sosa that. Well sometimes shit just doesn’t pan out. I feel like (based on what I just looked at for two seconds) that he will have a good year, but not on the big league club.

Do I like the guy?

he has a kind of lost puppy look on his face, but other than that….. prolly.

Would I hang out with the guy?

My guess is he would not want to hang out with me.

Will he have an essential role on the 2010 Giants?

Nope. While he might make it up late in the season as a call up, I say that he plays out his year at Connecticut double-A with the chance he makes it up to Fresno late this year or next year. Good luck buddy.

40 Giants in 37 days

Returning to the daily grind. Running through all 40 Giants on the 40 man roster and trying to project how they will do this year.

Matt Cain

How will he do this year?

The only thing that keeps Bobby King Matty from being an ace is Professor Snape that little skeleton of a boy Timmy. Last year was supposed to be his break out year and in a “sfgiants” sort-of-way, it was. Blah blah blah statistics blah blah, too bad he’s a Giants, blah blah blah, run support, blah blah blah. Aaanyways. My projections are that Matt turns in another solid year and (at the risk of sounding like I did last year) barring an unexpected jump in run support should get around 14 wins. Let’s cross our fingers.

Do I like the guy?

I have loved “The Thumb”, or “Thumby” since he cracked the bigs. I was in the bleachers when he took a no-hit bid pretty deep (into the 7th, or 8th?? i forget) against the Angels in 2006.

Would I hang out with him?

If his wife wouldn’t mind. I bet Cain needs to get out of the house every once in a while in the off season and blow off some steam. I heard he lives in Noe Valley, so it’s not too much to expect for him to meet me at The Phone Booth on 25th & South Van Ness to down a couple of rounds and maybe punch some car windows in on the way back.

Will he have an essential part on the 2010 Giants?

Yes. If he doesn’t we are doomed.
